Global Views Claims First People's Choice Award

Global Views Tweets and Texts Way To Victory
For the first time in the history of the competition, the High Point Market Authority invited all Market-goers to vote for their favorite showroom design via Twitter or text messaging — ushering in the presentation of the first People’s Choice Award.

The Award was launched this year to acknowledge the voice of Market-goers. The winning exhibitor had to present a spectacular display, first and foremost. They also had to develop and implement a strategy to get their guests to vote, using today's social media technology. Global Views excelled at both challenges.

David Gebhart, President of Global Views, cited his creative team— Rick Janecek, Gregg Lovell, Erin Davis and Seth Vaughn — who developed clear, easy-to-reproduce merchandising stories. Their vignettes suggest ways consumers can use the products in their homes, while color coheres the whole ensemble. Displays are organized by color, function and design and focus on interesting furniture and lighting pieces. Striking colors capture attention.

For promotion, Global Views, throughout the week before Market, Tweeted followers and updated their Facebook page with regular reports of the showroom’s progress, complete with before and after photos. During Market, the tactic continued with as many as four updates per day. And they asked their friends for votes. They even trained the uninitiated in how to set up and use Twitter and Facebook. The effort paid off.

“Clearly, spectacular merchandising and smart, social media-savvy promotion strategies create a winning combination in today’s super-connected, high tech marketplace,” said Brian Casey of the High Point Market Authority. “For proof, you need look no further than Global views.”
